I looked at a few G-code generators and after, admittedly, a room-wide search I picked CamBam, but I am quite happy with my choice - it works with zero hiccups (so far) and the CamBam Inkscape is a free vector graphics editor for all major platforms, generally it is aimed at art and design users but it does have an option for generating G-Code for use in your favourite CNC software. Sometimes on thicker sheets (30mm+) i can see during cutting, that my speed is slightly too high and the arc is far behind the torch and does not cut through anymore.
It would be really nice if you can set two buttons on the keyboard and adjust the cutting speed during a cut (Just like the THC voltage control buttons). So i could set the piercing time a little higher than it is needed and start the cutting manually as soon as the arc is through the material. Would be also handy when doing thick piercing. It would be great if you could add a button to manually start the cut before the piercing time expired. But if the part has holes, i cannot reduce the piercing time generally. But when doing an edge start, the piercing time is not needed. When cutting thicker sheets, i try to do edge starts if possible. This would be very handy when i only want to do a seperation cut between two pencil marks on the sheet.Ģ. It would be nice if you could manually set some kind of marker on the working area.įor example when i have a random metalsheet where i want to cut a line between two points, it would be nice to position the torch at the first point, set a virtual marker, then position the torch at the second point and then i can rightclick on the virtual marker and choose „cut line to this point“.Īt the moment you can do this only by remembering the coordinates.
